Postgraduate students (Master’s and PhD candidates) are invited to apply for the ACCESS Nigeria Research Summer School (ANRSS) 2026 at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
Designed to respond to the evolving research landscape, ANRSS 2026 offers an intensive learning experience that goes beyond theory, focusing on the practice of high-quality research. Participants will engage in guided sessions, hands-on exercises, peer reviews, proposal clinics, and a final research pitch with expert feedback.
The programme is delivered in collaboration with Leipzig University (Germany) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Development through DAAD.
The Research Summer School will focus on eight tightly linked areas:
- Cutting-Edge Research: Understanding the modern research landscape
- Crafting Research Questions and Hypotheses
- Research Design & Methodology
- Data Collection, Analysis & Research Impact
- Introduction to Grant Funding Ecosystems
- Writing Grant-Winning Proposals
- Budgeting, Project Management & Team Building
- Final Proposal Pitch, Feedback & Next Steps
INTENDED PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
By the end of the summer school, participants will:
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the modern research ecosystem;
- be able to design rigorous, methodologically sound research;
- produce a draft research proposal for further development;
- receive detailed, personalized feedback from experienced academics;
- understand how to identify and navigate funding opportunities;
- gain practical skills in grant writing, budgeting, and project management.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
This programme is intended for postgraduate students (Master degree and PhD candidates).
Please note that due to funding conditions, only applications from Nigeria, Germany, Ghana,
Tunisia, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Benin Republic can be considered.
