Prof. Jesse Gitaka is a distinguished physician-scientist specializing in tropical medicine and infectious disease research. He earned his PhD in Medical Science from Nagasaki University and conducted post-doctoral research in point-of-care diagnostics. Currently serving as the Director of Grants and Development at Mount Kenya University, he spearheads high-impact projects in malaria elimination, maternal and newborn health, and the development of highly sensitive molecular diagnostics for resource-limited settings. He is a Next Einstein Fellow and a lead investigator on major international research projects funded by the Welcome Trust, the NIH, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. His current pioneering work includes developing AI-powered clinical models to revolutionize neonatal care across Africa.
