The eighth International Interdisciplinary and Inter-Universities Consortium-Africa Conference 2023 kicked off Wednesday at the Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre, Mount Kenya University (MKU) Main Campus. The conference is organized by Mount Kenya University in partnership with Vincent Pol University of Poland.

The three-day forum under the theme, “Participatory leadership, innovation and knowledge transfer for sustainable economies” brings together more than 100 delegates and stakeholders from academia, public and private sectors.

The Inter-University Consortium Africa members include Mount Kenya University, Kyambogo University (Uganda), Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (Nigeria), University of Makeni (Sierra Leone) and University of Eldoret who are dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practices in knowledge and technological innovation are set to take part in the conference.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, MKU Pro-Chancellor Dr. Vincent Gaitho noted that participatory leadership was very critical in successful management of institutions and organizations. “When we add innovation to our leadership engagements and when we do this well enough, we are sure we would never go wrong,” he said.

Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi, MKU Vice-Chancellor called on delegates especially those from Universities in Africa, to consider recommending this consortium to their universities for possible membership.

Addressing the delegates, MKU Co-founder Dr. Jane Nyutu pointed out that the conference provided an important platform to promote Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and more specifically the support of reduced inequalities with our societies.
