In pursuit to be a Global Centre of Excellence in Education, Research and Innovation in Science and Technology, Mount Kenya University on Saturday (14/12/2019) launched College of Graduate Studies and Research.

Mandate of the College of Graduate Studies and Research:
a) Coordination of research-driven graduate training
b) Coordination of research and innovation activities
c) Coordination of community outreach activities
The College has three administrative units namely;
- Directorate of Graduate Studies
The Directorate of Graduate Studies (then School of Postgraduate Studies) in Mount Kenya University was established in 2011 to coordinate matters pertaining to postgraduate training at the University. Since its establishment, the postgraduate students’ enrollment has continuously increased over the years.
ii. Directorate of Research & Innovation
The Directorate of Research and Innovation was established 10 years ago to coordinate research activities within the university. Over the years, the Directorate has grown a research and innovation culture that has led to the growth of external research funding, publications and community outreach activities.
iii. Directorate of Grants & Development
The Directorate of Grants & Development was established to provide leadership in the management of grants. In pursuit of this mandate, the Directorate seeks, identifies and disseminates information on external grant calls that present opportunities that match National priorities.
