Overall Aim of STEP-S project
- To train the university and secondary school students on entrepreneurship as well as mentor postgraduate students in research skills
- Project focus: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) + Entrepreneurship opportunities

Achieved Milestones – MKU 2024/2025
- One (1) MKU Faculty member – Certified STEP-S Master Trainer (Globally recognized)
- Twenty four (24) MKU Faculty members – Certified STEP-S Trainers
- Over 150 (MKU staff & students) – Trained on Research Skills
- One hundred and twenty two (122) MKU undergraduate students trained on Entrepreneurship (10 students actively engaged in start-ups post training)
- Joint Publication – MKU, Leu, GOU & Univen
Future Plans
- Entrepreneurship Conference – March 2026 to be hosted at MKU
- Expansion of STEP-S to Rwanda & Somalia in collaboration with MKU
- Expansion of STEP-S to the community
- Introduction of STEP-S to TVET institutions in Kenya
South-South Collaboration/Empowerment
- Through Master trainers at each institution: Leuphana – Prof. Dr. Michael Gielnik (Senior Master Trainer), Paul Herrmann (Certified), Janina Peschmann (Certified)
University of Venda – Dr Anyway Mikioni (Certified) – 2025
Godfrey Okoye University – Mr Christopher C. Uwakwe (Certified) – 2025
Mount Kenya University – Mr Bonface Joel Malala (Certified) – 2025 - One additional master trainer – MKU, GOU & UNIVEN by 2027
- These will enhance African partner universities capacity to conduct TTT workshops to train more STEP-S trainers in respective countries
