On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee of the 1st International Scientific Conference, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this conference.
Welcome to Thika, Kenya. Come and share your ex p e r i e n c e , i d e a s a n d i n n o v a t i o n s . T h e conference whose theme is: “Contemporary
issues in Public Health Practice in Africa” is organized by African Institute of Public Health Professionals in collaboration with School of Public Health, Mount Kenya University, This conference shall be an annual event that will bring together researchers, NGOs, policy makers, academicians, end users, industry and communities from across Africa and the globe. The conference seeks to share strategies to contextualize imported technologies and innovations in public health practice and define effective intervention
packages for action to accelerate progress in the spirit of self determination
and reliance. This conference has five thematic areas
- Control of communicable and non-communicable diseases,
- Health Policy, financing and service delivery,
- Digital Innovation, ICT and Media in Health,
- Environmental health hygiene and Health Services,
- Reproductive Health.
The conference is designed to provide a platform to policy makers, scientific
community and the academia to interact with reality of public practice in
Africa through the many papers that shall be presented by various
scholars. It provides room for capacity building of young researchers
through their varied roles in the conference. We invite you to LISTEN with
your ears, eyes and hearts that you may HEAR and CONCEPTUALIZE the
explicit and implicit innovations from across this continent and the world.
Beyond listening, hearing and conceptualizing, we hope that you will find
this experience worthwhile to inform your individual and collective actions
and policy formulation.
